Even with a few wrinkles or grey hairs, a plump pout can takes years off a woman, Unilever scientist David Gunn has found.
His study of over 250 women, including sets of twins, reveals that thin lips are a genetic trait rather than a result of our environment.
Wow--what do you guys think of this? time for collagen injections for the over 30 crowd? I personally have not done any injections of any kind, no botox, etc. But I was born with thin lips...I've had them all my life, and I know that as I get older, my lips are getting thinner and I don't need them to be the tell-take sign of my aging.
Thoughts ladies?

I think there's something to having plump lips. My lower lip is slightly bigger than my upper lip and whenever I've had professionals apply makeup to me, they always line (with a nude/natural) lip liner slightly outside my lipline.
I've tried using LipFusion and other temporary lip pout glosses. But I definitely do not see any noticeable difference.
A friend used to get them and after the first couple of times, she had these full/perky lips. Very natural. Then she kept going back. Now she looks like she's constantly making the "fish lips" face even when she's "at rest."
I have no problem with Botox but I think that's because I know that it doesn't leave anything behind. I'm a bit concerned about any injectable that sticks around.

Does this hold true for men as well?
There will always be something new on the market to make women believe that they need to look younger. My suggestion, take care of yourself both body and mind and you won't need artificial creams, botox, collagen injections, or whatever to beat the signs of aging.
Age with grace, not with toxins!

I've been tempted, but haven't gone there. I've just seen too many lip jobs gone awry, and when they do go awry, they're pretty darn bad. Kind of like the overdone breast implant thing. If there was an injectible marketed as the "totally naturally looking lip enhancement" I may be more inclined, but at this point I've seen too many pouty-lips gone wrong to be motivated to try myself. Plus I hear it is very, very painful.

"I've had them all my life, and I know that as I get older, my lips are getting thinner and I don't need them to be the tell-take sign of my aging."
Then there's the flip side of having the lips you've had all your life and then all of a sudden not having them...I think that plays a part in overall self-perception, too. Or, at least for me it would.
I never say "never," but I'm old enough to know that I could in the future even if I think, "No way!" right now.

I think this is true. I have naturally plump lips and even though I'm going to be 34 this year, I get mistaken for much younger more times than not (for some reason people keep thinking that I look between 22 and 25). Then again, I also don't have any wrinkles or fine lines either (so who knows which thing carries more weight?).
I think people should be happy with the way they are and not get the injections. They just look too unnatural and people (like me) just stare in disbelief. :)

You guys!!!!!! I am very excited. I just tested this product in our store:
Lip Plumper and it totally works and I love it!
This is what I just posted on Facebook:
We started carrying this product a few months ago, under the recommendation of Jillian Wright, the celeb skincare guru in NYC (and my NY facialist). OMG ladies, this stuff work...s. I am personally anti-cosmetic surgery of any kind but I have thin lips and this stuff makes me look like I am naturally blessed with the plumpy plump lips I've always wanted. Do I look younger? I don't know, but I got hit on by a 25 year old and that is saying something. LOL. --julie
