Added Jun 14, 2009I know a bit but there's so much to learn and benefit from Ayurvedic practices. I wish there was a class or group I could attend to help me become more knowledgeable and meet others that practice Ayurvedic healing.

Hi,
I would recommend two great books:
The Complete Illustrated Guide to Ayurveda by Gopi Warrier and Deepika Gunawant as a resource for a beginner.
Stop Your Cravings by Jennifer Workman is a very informative book on how to incorporate ayurveda into western culture. It covers mostly nutrition and weight loss but also addresses stress reduction and just healthy living in general.

Try looking up Blue Medicine Buddha College of Ayurveda in Berkeley. Also David Frawley has a very affordable program you can find on his site. And the leading authority on Ayurveda in the US is arguably Dr. Vasant Lad, check out his site.
