Added Dec 02, 2009I'm trying to line up all my visits so that I look fresh and relaxed for all the upcoming holiday parties. Just wondering if anyone has a good countdown/rule of thumb for timing this.
For example, I know that I need to book my haircut a few weeks prior to any event so that if my bangs are cut too short, I still have time to fix them if anything goes awry.
Any suggestions?

In general, I know that salons tend to be overwhelmed come holiday time - there are lots of black tie parties in Boston this time of year, and many women seek touch ups and updos, thus making any remaining time a stylist has to dedicate to normal client needs a valuable commodity. I tend to book appointments as I need them - I rarely book something months in advance, since my schedule fluctuates so much. But, if you have a good relationship with your stylist, getting squeezed in at the last minute shouldn't be a problem - just be sure to thank (and tip) accordingly!

Thanks, Karyn, all good points! And I'm sure my stylist wold love the "tipping" comment. ;-)
I'm also trying to figure out things like:
- If someone *does* botox, do you wait 'til the last minute or should you have already gone in a few months in advance so that your face isn't totally frozen.
- Or what about body scrubs/fake spray on tans?
