Added Nov 08, 2008What do you do when you find the most amazing hair stylist, who makes you look beautiful, but you leave the salon with a headache because she is a little rude, or difficult? She always seems likes she has an attitude....and I try not to take it personally....but it's hard.....has anyone ever had an experience like this before?

You're the client, she's the stylist. Part of her job is to make you comfortable. Suppose she were a waiter who treated you badly. Would you sit there while she (or he) spilled coffee on you, brought you someone else's order, got huffy when you pointed out dirty spots on your fork?
Speak up. You can be polite and still make your feelings know. "It bothers me when you all speak Russian over my head," I have said. "I know it's not the case, but it feels like you are talking abut me.'
It didn't help all that much but I certainly felt a lot better.

go somewhere else Erica! You don't need it. You are a vibrant, beautiful woman and you need someone who loooooves you. I hate to say this, but it is honestly why I usually go to gay men. Not trying to be rude or sexist, but gay men are really the best when it comes to compliments. ;) They can make you feel so good about yourself. I also love Jessica at Aurbeautica. Seriously though, you need to find someone who makes you float out of the salon!

About mike P specifically, he is on the site, he is my colorist and awesome, no attitude, just a hot guy with talent. ;)

i have never been in a situation of that sort, but if i was i would not be returning to that stylist no matter how cute my hair is you should not have to sit there and tolerate that rudeness, she may do a good job but you find some one else who could do just as good of a job as she can minus the attitude

The customer is always right. :D
I would speak up politely also- just say something like, "I LOVE the way I look when I step out of here & you are very talented. However, as the person footing the bill, XYZ really bothers me when I come in here, and this is why I'm considering going elsewhere. Maybe you don't realize your self-confidence, etc. comes across as being rude or forward, but it seems that way to me."

I missed this discussion earlier, but I wanted to comment because I think it's a good question. I know that it would be difficult, but I would definitely either say something right away or I'd just not return. I firmly believe that the client is paying for great service and you've got to feel on top of the world when you leave. Anything less and it's time to shop for a new place.
