Added Dec 02, 2009There seems to be a lot of debate over the relics of teeth bleaching. Some people think it looks entirely unnatural; others claim it takes years off of their smiles.
As for me: I had fluoride stains on my teeth from childhood that were treated and removed professionally with a lightening gel by my orthodontist when my braces were removed. I've used Crest White Strips several times since, but on a sporadic basis - perhaps one set of strips every 6 months or so, if at all. My teeth have been consistently brighter since I've cut back on coffee. I think teeth that are too white look fake, and to be honest, look stupid.
What are your thoughts on teeth bleaching? Have you used or considered over-the-counter treatments such as Crest White Strips or other home bleaching systems, or perhaps utilized a professional service like Zoom? Or, are you opposed to the very thought of overtly pearl white teeth?

I went to Brightsmile 5 years ago and was encouraged NOT to get the procedure done by one of the Dentists! He said my teeth were white enough and I wouldn't see a dramatic improvement so why waste the money? Thanks doc! I had been using Whitestrips as well, one box every six months. I feel unless you have noticeable stains on your teeth, you really don't need more than the strips. They're mild enough to use twice a year without damaging the enamel, and they do help to make your smile 2-3 shades brighter. I say when used in moderation, why not?

This is going to sound weird, but I think certain complexions look fine with the very white, but others/most--no way. There is this beautiful girl I know in our church who has this...this...blue undertone when she tans. I don't know how else to put it. She just looks amazing in pastels and tans with a blue undertone. She got her teeth whitened and it looked perfect!
I'm with the Crest Whitestrips crowd!
