Added Jan 11, 2010I'm one of those women who use to look stunning. Even when I was smaller I wasn't in shape. I guess I was a skinny fat person, now I'm a real fat person. I do work out sporaticly. I get some exercise but not enough to lose weight. I get bored so easy with my work outs.. I'm trying to stay motivated and to change my eating habits. It's difficult because I grew up and my step dad was a truck driver and he encouraged and allowed me to eat whatever. So I'm learning all over again what it means to eat healthy. I really want to do it.

Hey Mildred,
I hear you. I used to never have to move a muscle to look thin and toned. Now that I'm in my late 30s I feel I have to make more of an effort and it takes some serious motivation. I have found that taking classes at the gym or hiring a personal trainer is a wonderful investment. A support system is key when you're just starting out your fitness routine. Eating healthy is a whole other discipline that will take even more willpower if you've been raised on the eat whatever you want diet. (I have as well). But I've also found that motivation to diet and exercise go hand in hand. Once you start working out regularly you'll find you crave healthy foods more often and vice versa.
Best of luck to you!

Hi Mildred--I think it's great you're so motivated! Baby steps are key, as well as plenty of praise at the end of the day for yourself for them.
That brain can be the hardest part of change, but we'll be eager to encourage when you let us know you need it!

It is great that you are getting healthy. Don't assume all of us don't "fall off th wagon". I mess up a lot and eat junk when I shouldn't. Tomorrow is a new day to keep trying!
