Introduction to Acutonics
Acutonics is an alternative healing therapy that uses sound to balance and harmonize the psyche and soul. In the practice of Acutonics sound vibrations are believed to be a link between the spirit and life forces affecting every aspect of all matter.
The study of numerous ancient and traditional cultures reveal references to the healing powers of sound. In cosmology and mythology sound waves are the carrier between the spirit world and the people of earth. Through close observation of nature the ancient Sumerians and Taoists concluded that each piece of the universe is linked to the whole. They believed each piece exists in relation to the others as part of an interlaced network of divine harmony with humanity at the center. All of these parts were thought to be connected through sound. In addition, the use of sound and harmonics for healing can be found throughout many cultures and recorded through history. The use of music as a healing tool dates back as far as 5000 BCE and can be found in Ancient Egypt, China, and Rome as well as in other ancient cultures.
How does Acutonics work?
Acutonics is a powerful, non-invasive healing system that uses sound vibration to re-harmonize and attune the human energy field. While this may sound strange (no pun intended), consider how you react to certain sounds you hear and feel with your vibrational body. Some sounds such as bells ringing, rain falling or your favorite songs may induce a feeling of calm, while others may set your mind and body on edge.
The healing sounds used in Acutonics are created with precisely calibrated instruments most often resembling a set of tuning forks (practitioners may incorporate singing bowls, bell drums, gongs, rattles, and even music, but the tuning fork is the primary instrument). When played these instruments represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbits of the celestial bodies in our universe. Once activated (played), the forks are waved near the ears and applied directly to acupressure points, points of pain, chakras, and meridians to open the energy pathways in the body. The sound waves help to move energy through blockages and restore the natural flow of energy throughout the body. These blockages, which can be generational, emotional, or psychic in nature are believed to have the ability to both create illness and weaken the bodies defenses to illness.
While still relatively on the fringe of alternative healing modalities, Acutonics is being increasingly incorporated into spa treatments to promote relaxation and improve health and wellbeing.
What are the benefits of Acutonics?
As with many energy healing methods, Acutonics is becoming known within the wellness community as another option for those seeking a more natural and harmonious way of healing oneself. While the benefits of Acutonic therapy are still being evaluated by the Western scientific community, practitioners and recipients of this therapy report wide reaching benefits including:
- Spiritual, emotional, and physical balance
- Stress reduction
- Pain management
- Improved health and wellness
- Treatment of sleep disorder
- Increase in healing process
- Improved access to memory
- Improve immune system

I had a sound therapy full body tuning treatment at The Spa at Stoweflake Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vermont. It was an interesting an unique experience. I'm in the process of writing a full review on the experience and will post here when I've finished.
