Added Jan 22, 2010This is really frustrating to me. This winter all of a sudden I developed a very dry spot on just one cheek. It flakes and gets red bumps. I've tried Aveda's top dry skin moisterizer and that doesn't work and on top of that I'm using another moisturizer my waxing professional gave me that's supposed to stop the redness. It's gotten a tiny bit better but I'm at a loss what to do. Should I just go see my doctor? Would they be able to prescribe something for me?

I am no expert in this area but female friends of mine have started using "NightSkin" and say it is terrific..

Dry skin is commonly mistaken as lacking water in the skin, which we often resort to a moisturizer to "Moisten" the area for a limited amount of time. Oils are very scary to most, but the effect of Oil with dry skin is amazing, considering that dry skin is caused by your body not producing enough oil (not water). I would highly recommend checking out SUGARCANE's page and reading our blog about our Oil Blends! Considering you are experiencing redness and bumps, the SC Blend #2 based in Avocado Oil would do wonders for you because it is very light, won't clog pores, and does work to reduce redness!
E-Mail us with any questions you may have.

I have the same issue. It's usually the result of allergies (I have incredibly sensitive skin) for me. My acupuncturist once told me to use straight olive oil on these types of spots. I did it and low and behold it works! Just dab a tiny amount on the spot and rub it in. I would usually do this before going to bed or first thing in the morning. Don't wash it off. The spot will be gone in a day or two.
Simple and cheap!
